The American Tree Sparrow a reddish-brown and gray bird with a rusty-red cap, a rusty stripe through the eye, a bicolored bill (dark top, yellow bottom), two white wing bars, and a plain grayish breast with a distinct dark spot. The bird was perched on a brown branch of some dried brush, with other brown and red foliage in the background. Seen at Great Meadows NWR in Concord, Massachusetts.
