We’ve been monitoring nest boxes in the Box Ironbark forests in Central Victoria. A very good occupancy rate with many Kreft (sugar) gliders. So very cute. The nest boxes are clearly filling a need.

A small spider, looking a bit like a cross spider, facing left and down, greenish and cream banded legs, a light grey head, the abdomen is green underneath and cream above with dark brown blotches. The background is a green shrub, a red berry upper left. It is at the sec of a massy looking tent shaped web.

A Royal Spoonbill (Platalea regia) perched on a thick, textured tree branch surrounded by a tangle of bare and leafy branches with a soft green bokeh background. The bird is entirely white with long dark grey-black legs and a long, flat, spatula-shaped black bill, the distinctive feature of the species. Its head is angled downward and slightly forward, with a small vivid red-orange eye visible. Fine wispy plumes are visible at the back of the head and chest. I’ve seen plenty of blue ringed octopuses on the beach . They prefer to hunt for their food in shallow rock pools . Good to look at, not touch. They hunt small invertebrates and fish. As long as you leave them alone they will not harm you. #australianwildlife
