The usually shy American bittern was on the path we walk. The herons were mostly at the rookery, but some were out getting provisions. And the signs of spring were all around. (Sorry the bittern photo does not do this handsome bird justice!)
We watched this American #Bittern as it hunted its way along the #RNWR autoroute for over 30 minutes. Disappointed for the 20+ cars that sped by and didn't see it. Here it was watching an Eagle fly overhead.
