Fascinating. To me at least.
I once heard that something like 50% of all plants can cross pollinate between species.
I don’t know if that is true. It would help explain this.

#BioDiverse
🌱 We’re raising the most nature-deprived generation in history. Connection to nature has dropped 60% since the 1800s. #Biodiverse schoolyards lower anxiety, improve focus, and even boost learning. Yet many kids, especially in cities, rarely experience it. #OurClimateOurHealth
A new #data paper compiles 7,625 independent infrared-camera detections of 15 species in the Jiulongfeng Nature Reserve in China.
This work greatly improves the understanding of mammalian biodiversity, behavioral #ecology and #migration patterns in one of the country's most #biodiverse regions.
#Pollinators positively contribute to the #planet by helping create #biodiverse ecosystems, clean air, soils and water, and pollination of food producing plants.

We can of course add in the seriously problematic #climate impacts on top of the above, the replacement of #biodiverse #forest with #monoculture #plantation which is neither #resilient or #diverse... we do know when to stop, though! Ends.
Please sign and share this to stop the insane concept of burning #biodiverse #forests as “#renewable” #energy, which is now going to fuel #AI data centres from #Drax, who are #subsidised to rip off the #UK #taxpayer and #pollute #poor #communities in the #US: actionnetwork.org/letters/say-...
including all the corporate-profit-oriented processes for which fossil fuels" provide power and inputs e.g. industrial commodity production systems.
#biodiverse #agroecology can provide zero-carbon food for all, while enhancing #biodiversity but needs territorial, economic and social protection.
We welcome the Call to Action from the #Dartmoor Nature Alliance. Many of their recommendations are essential for a productive, nature-rich, #biodiverse Dartmoor that will form the foundations for the future of the National Park.

A single goldfinch perches among the dried seed heads of teasels at dusk. The soft evening light catches its red face and yellow wing flash against a pale sky — a quiet moment of stillness and birdsong
Each person we’ve shared listens in their own way.
Seán Ronayne hears what most of us miss — recording the living heartbeat of Ireland, one birdsong, one breath at a time.
Through him, the birds speak for the Earth.

A large green praying mantis perched on the side of a cactus plant in a terracotta vase. More succulent plants in another vase can be seen in the background. On the left, part of a solar garden decoration on a piece of tree trunk can be seen.
For my continuing series featuring #Critters in my #garden, here is our latest acquisition. I'm guessing it's a she because she's rather large, no less than 8cm. I've read that the presence of #prayingmantis means the garden is healthy and #biodiverse, is it true? I'd never seen one in over 50years!

Plants are perhaps our strongest ally in #climate stability, because they have literally evolved from the ground up to promote it. Sometimes they can get out of whack, but that is exclusively in imbalanced #monoculture. A balanced and #biodiverse #ecosystem is a boon to the land.

A #biodiverse garden is about more than just recording species. It's about creating chances for as much species as possible. Here's a caterpillar of a Humming-bird Hawk Moth on Gallium in my garden today.

The Miyawaki method creates fast-growing, highly #biodiverse native #forests in the middle of #urban areas, or even on deteriorating land. It has been replicated in Italy, India, Brazil, Chile, and Jordan. It has now arrived in #Mexico.
Fences and people can clearly transform #landscapes. Depending on what people want it is possible to create dense, #carbon-rich #biodiverse #forests or #grasslands that support an amazing diversity of grazers and browsers. #Amboseli

Carbon neutral? No. Evidence is clear - it takes between 40 to 200 years to theoretically recapture the carbon from the felled forests, depending on the nature of the #forest felled. Plantation or #biodiverse #OldGrowth forest. But... if you replace biodiverse forest with a plantation, then never!
