A spiral galaxy glowing in space.

She welcomed
the brokenness,
how it ground her heart
into pulps of night sky,
a dust at her feet.

She didn’t wallow in it…
she gathered it,
lofted it
into that splitting unseen.

i. slow, horns swaying with its gait, mahogany — not matt or gloss... but somewhere in between, across a stone slab altar-like ii. in chasuble of white and green it flutters by, alighting now on charlock, now on lady’s smock a flying thurifer that leaves a faint but noticeable trail of lemon iii. at night the heat lies heavy on the room’s humidity, and the high-pitched whine, relentless, of a two-winged protopsaltis wards off sleep.
