Sometimes mold fungi picks the dead insects in our greenhouse before I do.
I think this is some Penicillium species.

Unforgettable #Hymathon2025, a virtual symposium of International Society of Hymenopterists Hymathon is the society’s annual 24-hour-long marathon of Hymenoptera! Join online from anywhere in the world to listen to presentations from Hymenopterists, present your own research, participate in social events and make new connections. It is full of research talks, fun events, and more than a small amount of chaos as the 24 hours reaches the end! Hymathon 2025 occurred on 4–5 December 2025, with four sessions over the 24 hour period.
Unforgettable #Hymathon2025 ❤️
Looking forward to our new meetings with @hymenopterists.bsky.social

Dark-bodied wasp with long antennae, yellow legs, and an amber head.
Amber-bodied wasp with long antennae, yellow legs, and an ovipositor that extends as far as the wings.
In another exciting installment of "Tiny Wasps That Emerge from Redbud Seedpods" here are a male and female that I think are in the genus Heterospilus (Doryctinae). Two species in the genus are known parasitoids of redbud bruchids but I'm not sure how to tell them apart. #wasps #insects #braconidae

A parasitised seven-spot Ladybird. A red ladybird with black spots attached to the fibrous, pale brown pupal case of a wasp
Not an addition to my #ladybirdyearlist, but interesting to find this 7-spot ladybird yesterday that has been parasitised, I assume by the so-called Ladybird Parasitoid Wasp, Dinocampus coccinellae. Seems to be unrecorded in #Northumberland.

A macro photo showing a small parasitoid wasp, perched on a bright yellow groundsel flower. The wasp has a sleek black head, shiny reddish-brown thorax, black abdomen, and translucent wings. Its antennae curve forward and its long ovipositor trails behind. The yellow flower head is made up of clustered, tiny florets with curling petals, some of which are aging and browning. Blurred yellow flowers and green leaves fill the soft-focus background, giving a warm, summery atmosphere.
This tiny likely #braconidae is one of the more beautiful visitors I spotted today. Without a pit stop at flowers like this groundsel, these little braconids would not have the fuel to go on and parasitize the critters we do not want hanging around.

A female Braconid wasp found on the shingle at Rye Harbour Nature reserve yesterday. Attempts to identify have arrived at the genus Bracon and subgenus Orthobracon, but helpful guidance would be appreciated.

Wasp which grows inside adult fruit flies. Incredible if gruesome videos (see a baby wasp crawl out of a fly!). Amazing amount of information. And a new species which has been widespread in the US, yet first discovered now.
