Have you ever walked the Colne Valley Trail?
It runs through some of the most attractive areas of the Colne Valley Regional Park and provides excellent views of the River Colne, lakes and the Grand Union Canal. #Rickmansworth #Uxbridge #Colnbrook

In #Colnbrook #OnePlaceStudy By walking and understanding the road and potential difficult areas informs why Colnbrook is where it is. Also informs why many Coaching Inns are placed where they are. Steep hills where additional horses are required for a short distance is one type of obstacle.
The contract, covering 2 sites at #Colnbrook and #Harmondsworth, totalling around 1,000 beds, would run from 2028 for an initial 6 years, with a max extension of up to 4 years, so could be worth £1 bn over 10 years!?
-> Some 12k peeps are expected to go thru the centre annually!
Reviewing the process is a constant with my #OnePlaceStudy , mainly to ensure I have the information to tell the story of #Colnbrook #OnePlaceWednesday. The process also ensures I have confidence in what I’m putting online.
Today I’m finishing the transcription of Henry Steven’s will (1852) which is long and tedious & contains three codicils. With provisions for replacing trustees who go “beyond the seas”. Also what to do if son goes bankrupt who was excluded from a bequest of property. #Colnbrook #OnePlaceStudy
This #Colnbrook Community Cleanup was organised by Cllr Puja Bedi & the Slough Anti litter society.
Thank you to everyone who was generous enough to give up their Saturday morning to Clean Up #Colnbrook #Slough. These are some of the amazing #volunteers. They had a big impact. The local residents and wildlife have a lot to thank them for.
Who’d like to #volunteer for a Litter Blitz at 10am on Saturday 27th September?
This #Colnbrook Community Cleanup is organised by Cllr Puja Bedi & @SloughAntilitter. The more people, the greater the impact. #Slough

Colnbrook One-Place Study. Image: A photo of part of King John's Palace in Colnbrook. We see a two-storey, plastered (white) building, with multi-paned windows and a large archway giving passage to a gravelled courtyard. There are two dormers in the tiled roof. One-Place Studies, where family history and local history unite.
If you check to see What’s New on the Colnbrook #OnePlaceStudy website you’ll see that several individuals and families have been added in the last 30 days. A site well worth exploring if you have an interest in #Colnbrook and/or have ancestors who lived there! #OnePlaceWednesday

Colnbrook, its age and first records🔗. How far back do records of #Colnbrook go? Did it appear in the Domesday Book, as claimed by a number of websites? Find out in an article added by Tony Sargeant @tony-colnbrook-ops.bsky.social to his #OnePlaceStudy website earlier this month. #OnePlaceWednesday

When the case was called on one of the magistrates exclaimed “Colnbrook again!” and well he might say so for the “neighbours” of that town, some of them at least, have several times figured before the bench for their “neighbouring" feuds. #Colnbrook #One-PlaceStudies After a quiet time on social media, I'm here to report that the Colnbrook OPS website www.colnbrook-ops.co.uk website is now an Open Site, not requiring a login to view the contents. There is still a lot of content to be created.

#GenHour Today in #Colnbrook #OnePlaceStudy there has been a bit of organising as the records collected at Bucks Archives are checked. The Horton Land Tax is interesting a the Excise Officer's Spelling of names was very poor. I hope they could do sums better!
The Image is just a partial list. 😃
Hello #AncestryHour I'm still working my way through licensing records for #Colnbrook with the land tax records. I have discovered 5 of them were owned by Messrs Thurbin & Co in 1798. They were brewers from Harmondsworth, Middx. #OnePlaceStudies
#Colnbrook #OnePlaceStudy has a famous son William Bernhardt Tegetmeier who was born at Colnbrook End and baptised in Stanwell church 8 Dec 1816 He has a Wikipedia page His father was a Surgeon in Colnbrook for a few years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William...
#GenHour At the moment I'm trying to match the 1791 Land Tax with the properties in #Colnbrook High Street and the 1791 Licensing for the parishes of Langley & Horton.
Also wondering if the wonderfully named Half Moon and Seven Stars is in my #OnePlaceStudy
