Male and female Mallard Ducks on the Kern River. Male in foreground has a beautiful dark green head, yellow beak, and a tiny white necklace against a rich chocolate breast. Female is speckled brown and white with a splotchy orange bill. Both are hiding deep royal purple feathers under their wings.
