The Malta-based reporter Daphne Caruana Galizia was internationally recognized for her work exposing government corruption, money laundering, organized crime, and other schemes. About a year after the Panama Papers were published, Galizia was using information in the documents to uncover the financial misdeeds of people associated with the government of Malta when she was assassinated by a car bomb.
