Most of this frame is just green leaves from plants and bushes. Jutting in on an angle from the right border is a dead tree limb. Perched near the tip of the branch is a dark gray bird, the eastern kingbird. It has white-tipped tail feathers and a white throat. Its head is turned to the left.

An adult Eastern Kingbird attempts to cram a huge dragonfly down the throat of a fledgling Eastern Kingbird.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay prompt is #Birds&Bugs. This #EasternKingbird had two babies, and it liked one better than the other. This was the baby it liked less. It was unable to cram the huge dragonfly down this baby's throat and ultimately gave it to the other one.

While the Hudson Valley is locked in a deep freeze, the Eastern Kingbird is enjoying the Amazon Basin. They trade aggressive summer insect-hunting for a relaxed winter diet of tropical fruit.

#Birds #EasternKingbird #BirdOfTheDay Earlier this summer, an Eastern Kingbird (Tyrannus tyrannus) turning away, would swoop out from this perch and snap up unwary insects. Out of sight, was a male Audubon's Yellow-Rumped Warbler. He was not happy to see this larger intruder and was divebombing it.

Two black and white birds hang out on a stump near the water at a large marsh. The adult is teaching the juvenile how to fly and feed. It was a beautiful encounter.

While making feeding passes by itself, this juvenile Eastern Kingbird would sometimes stop on this itty bitty branch from a stump for a little rest.

Here are the two on stumps or pieces of stumps in the water. When feeding training is going on, it seemed like the stumps are a great place to hang out close to the water. #birds #EasternKingbird
