I've previously mentioned that I have competing Red-eyed Vireos on either side of the house. Then today one of them ventured into the other's territory and a big kerfuffle ensued. As I was standing in the front yard they zipped past me only feet from my head.

Two birds are perched on a branch; photographer's best guess on species is Red-Eyed Vireo, sex unknown. On the left is an adult, side-on facing right; on the right is a fluffy juvenile, stomach facing the camera, but their head facing their parent. Many other branches are around them, and the background is a collage of blurry greens. The adult is drab earth colors on its back and wings with a white belly. Their feet are a gray-blue color; the face is a white circle around a striking red eye and black pupil, with a black horizontal streak of feathers going straight from the back of its head, through the eye, and into the black beak. It's holding a single winged bug in its mouth. The juvenile is still all fluffy feathers. Its belly is all white but the small sliver of wings that are visible are the same sort of drab brown. The photographer later got shots of the adult feeding this bug to the juvenile.
