A male Mallard duck, facing to the left, sits waist deep in water next to a muddy bank. The duck had a yellow bill, dark gree head and neck, chestnut brown breast, grey underparts, brown back and wings with a small blue wing flash and a black tail.

The canal (see last post) was more atmospheric in the morning mist than I managed to capture. The Purple Heron sat in a tree for quite a while before flying off.

A short stroll along the railway path to the Discovery Pool on #ExminsterMarshes and the sight of Wood and Green Sandpipers almost side by side.

Along with these, I saw some young Swallow along the fence being fed by an adult.
