A Western Marsh Harrier in a head-on landing pose. The bird’s broad, streaked-brown wings are arched upward in a "V" shape, while its long, bright yellow legs dangle toward the bottom of the frame. Its intense yellow eyes are fixed forward, and its pale, owl-like face is highly detailed against a soft, blurred autumnal background.

It could be a fallow year for these majestic birds on my local patch, reed cutting may well displace them for a year or two 😢
