A photograph on a dull day of woodland aside the approach road. To a local RSPB site with good accessibility. Featuring stage left a gnarled trunk of a naked tree. To the right and set further back a very swat trunk even more gnarled and in my mind appearing like an aged upturned root given its deeper brown colour. It’s backed by a lush leaf adorned tree, triangular in shape. The ground is a beautiful warm brown of dried ferns.

The world that Zuckerberg created is documented in the book Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams. I expect Zuckerberg to meet with a violent end if litigation fails to reel him in.

A typical British backstreet boozer or pub, photographed on a rainy evening so that the cosy lighting reflects on the wet street and pavement. The pub is called the Two Sawyers and is one I frequented as a teenager and to a lesser extent now. An adjacent street is pleasingly named Love Lane and its sign is visible. As a part joke there is also a standard and temporary road sign with the word pub and an arrow on it pointing to our pub. It’s funny because it’s entirely superfluous given the prominence of the pub in an otherwise largely residential (now) street or lane to be more precise. FTFOI.

A photograph of a kitchen counter with an integral brass coloured sink visible to its right with an arching tap. The subject however is a brass coloured kettle, triangular in shape and a large mug. The design on said receptacle is notably mimicking a scrabble tile - the letter F and its associated value ‘4’. Behind the scene a white net curtain hangs. The light is bright and after dark given the window at which the curtain hangs emits no light of its own. The interior light has created a pleasing vertical stripe effect on the kettle. The photo was taken to entertain the photographer and for the fun of it. I loved the reflection of light but also the mirroring of the curves of the kettle handle and the over sink tap.

A photograph featuring dry and remaining seed heads in the very immediate foreground and occupying nearly the full frame. Their browns and golds are complimented by the golds of the reeds and stalks beyond them and the bluest of skies. Streaked a little with the white clouds that are at the horizon line forming a low band whilst closer to dispersed vapour trails elsewhere. January, Pegwell Bay, Kent.

A photograph of a small wooden house that is actually more likely a shed. Taken on a winter’s morning the sky is streaked the palest of baby pinks and blues and peach. In the foreground are twigs of shrubs with one or two last leaves clinging to them. The scrap of land visible is mostly covered in long grass starting to fail, an embankment, some trees. The windows of our construction are yellow board giving the impression of there emanating the glow of an interior or candle light from them. It reminded me of a TV show starting to fade from memory of a small home on a prairie and the humans who lived there. Written by Laura Ingalls Wilder or at least the originating books.

A photograph of the Festival Hall on London’s South Bank taken from its rear (if it’s front faces the Thames. Obscured a little to its right by a tree that is also acting as the right border of the image. A street pole of some sort does the same on the left of the image and displays a sticker with the number ten on it in a block, graffiti style font. A cable tie is also visible. In the mid ground people are heading to the steps that take you to the bank complex proper including someone in black with a bright red bag. The wall that also frames the left of the image is adorned with graffiti but the obscure angle means you can only discern the red of the most prominent example. It is a grey dull day but this makes the blue of the lettering on the hall and the mentioned reds all the more of note. IMO.

A photograph of a lane flanked on each side by a traditional crafted wooden fence (post and three horizontals constructed from pieces of wood still showing the curve of the branch it once was). On a grey damp morning the lane is wet and muddy. Alongside the fence growing behind and through it are tangles of hedgerow type shrubbery and tall trees, some Ivy strewn. Notably the principle subject is a bright red painted gate (two posts, a panel and three small planks creating four square holes/windows in the top third). Constructed by someone not bought ready made. The red pops against the other muted colours of the scene.

A photograph taken of a recessed window within a contemporary art gallery. Walls of cream and sill of warm light brown wood. Through which can be seen net drying buildings that look like elongated (vertically so nets can be hung) black wooden huts. Beyond which is the cliff which is accessed via a funicular railway visible also. Behind which the sky is the brightest of blue streaked with very modest white clouds or vapour trails. The blue of the sky and the buttery cream of the walls talk to each other so very well. On the sill is from memory a survey I’d been asked to fill back in spring.

A photograph of a man in his late sixties perhaps, sitting at a small outside table by the door of a traditional London pub (boozer 🤩). Taken in late afternoon the street and festive lights in this road in Knightsbridge glow as golden as the ale he is drinking. In the background historic buildings are visible and possibly 19th Century. On the table alongside his ale is an ashtray and a small white pot containing a plant with cute yellow flowers. Three women have just walked past and still visible, in big winter coats, camel, pink and black. Over the road is an outlet with a beautiful blue frontage the colour of the box one of those chocolate oranges come in and who belong to another man. The orange of its interior added to this in my mind on the day. The exterior of the pub at which our guy (not known to me) sits is itself a great petrol blue, enhanced by the golden lights around. Our guy is a stocky chap, white haired, brown jacket adorned spectacle wearer. Looking over them to read his phone he is holding below the table. He wears his glasses and has a taste for ale the way a family member no longer here did. Who loves the Big City as much as I do 🔵🟠🔵🟠🔵🟠

A photograph of one of the benches that are part of a collection of public and purposeful art on the South Bank main promenade around the Festival Hall in London. By artist Jeppe Hein. Scarlet in colour the bench is traditional in structure save its seat which is as if it’s made of fabric or pliable rubber and draped across the end legs creating a loose m shape. The patient young person waiting for the camera holder to finish drew comparisons favourably with municipal benches much less able to afford a person without shelter to stretch and rest. The surrounding scene is the original brutalist architecture later additions in materials of black, grey and white making the flowing bright red pop all the more on a grey December day. Perhaps enhanced a little by an illuminated vertical sign of gold nearby.

A photograph principally of an inflated or rubber life saving ring hanging or fixed to the trunk of a tree on a river bank. The foreground features the branches of a straggling bush with leaves the same orange as the ring, others dark red, yellow or green. Ivy adorns an adjacent trunk and bright red hips are also popping in colour against the milky brown of the swollen river. It’s a dull day inspite of which the assorted colours are like candy in those tubs (once tins) that contain assorted chocolates popular in the UK in December. ✨

A photograph of a child’s high street carousel, smaller than the traditional that feature prancing horses. Instead it has a range of vehicles and is suitable for smaller children even toddlers. In the image two (presumed) mothers stand apart with hands in pockets watching small children. A little aside in a red and white wool hat is a man in a black overcoat. To the right are visible high street standard outlets including a well known sandwich shop and bank. In the foreground is a barrier, blocking the street from vehicles and rows of empty cafe tables. It’s an overcast day and although only mid afternoon the light is failing. It’s in my mind a scene, a little gloomy, representative of the challenge faced by less trendy beach towns in this part of the UK and wider socioeconomic issues and inequality. It has a flag problem elsewhere that I wonder about capturing and for now choose not to.

A photograph of a display case prominently containing Sindy Dolls, Barbie’s rival perhaps. 4 or 5 are visible in a variety of outfits and poses. Summer Sindy, Keep Fit Sindy etc. Notably they have different expressions, some a little sad in appearance. To the rear of the case are two Barbie Dolls one with what appears to be an ill fitting bicycle helmet on her head and inexplicably in a bikini top. I think. In my mind Sindy was (perceived in my childhood) more wholesome than her American cousin. This is of course nonsense/projection and I find it interesting that this image/display made me think of the two doll types as rival groups. Oh lawd stop thinking these thoughts 🤩 I have also forgotten to mention two odd small egg shaped seemingly male ‘toys’ lurking at the bottom of the case, goodness alone knows what one could project onto them if one procrastinated further.

A photograph taken at hip height from an oblique position of an alley way on a brightish day, late afternoon. Visible in the foreground is a black roller shutter door of a garage and a wooden fence panel. On the opposite side of the access route principally used by pedestrians is a brick wall with Ivy trailing down it and a further garage door. Both are black or dark in colour but spray painted with graffiti in shades of vibrant blue which pops against the black. The sky is a bright blue in spite of the hour flecked with minimal clouds. Albeit the darkness of the road/pavement hints that it’s rained recently. It’s unlikely the garages store cars as intended as they seem now too small to reasonably do so. A variety of vegetation adorns its fringes and in places thrives within it.

Visible are a variety of native trees, with leaves in the closest fields bright green and broad and those in furthest smaller and more ‘forest’ green in colour. The collection of trunks create a vanishing point effect- sort of. It’s mid afternoon on that November day.

A photograph taken from thigh height featuring a residential street that is close to a city centre. At an oblique angle and semi prominent is a fire hydrant sign indicating the diameter of the infrastructure at 100 (mm) a distance of 1 (m) away. Learning! On the opposite side of the narrow street are period properties with ornate (sort of) windows. A fixed bollard is at an angle presumable having performed its function as deterrent. A lamppost is I think originally Victorian. The Sky is blue on a sunny day enhancing the white of various walls. A cobblestone pavement and more contemporary equivalent can also be seen.

To the left are red lights in the window of the cafe appropriately named Stag (seasonal). The Christmas lights are up and framing the scene in gold bands to the right. The sky is deep blue as the sun has set on the day and the expedition itself.

A negotiated photograph (no photography rule, IPL) of the main bathroom in the private quarters of Walmer Castle, Kent. Taken at an oblique angle it features principally a beautiful tiled wall, a sort of duck egg green but shining in the reflected light entering the space from a large window. Through which the brick of part of the castle interior wall can be seen. Also visible is a tower rail, a basin and a wall mounted cabinet. I liked how the window light plays on the tiles as if the window is leaded (divided into small panes) when in fact it isn’t at all - it’s the tiling itself creating this illusion. Sort of. A muted camel brown coloured curtain plays nicely colour wise against the whites and blue-green of the room. The property has historical significance, connection to Wellington and Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.

A photo of a pair of red high heel shoes that have lost their plastic/paint coating in places through wear. Positioned atop an accessible wheely bin as an act of hope that a clever passer-by will take them and repaint them and in turn wear them. In the background and mid ground are cars parked on the residential street and the terraced homes on the opposite side of the street. Two of the cars are scarlet in colour prompting the photographer to pause yet again because they simply couldn’t help themselves. It’s a rainy, grey day with water on the bin and path gate (wrought iron), giving the reds particular appeal. One day I’ll finish the day to day tasks in a sensible time frame but not today.

It’s barely visible and might require a ‘zoom in’. The photo is taken on a bright autumn afternoon and the river has clear reflections of the trees in it alongside the blue sky. There is also visible a piece of kit I believe is there to measure flow, depth of the river which is in fact shallow and more stream.

A photograph of a roadside gift store window where a display stand features a variety of children’s dolls. Disassembled to replace their torsos with old utility tinware. Such as an old film container and something called Para-Zene that appears to be an insect repellent. The tins are a variety of colours and the dolls less Barbie more generic or Sindy types. Mostly blonde. The Kodak doll hangs on the stand so she appears to be giving side-eye to Para-Zene doll. Likely accidental.

“What may this mean.
That thou, dead corse, again, in complete steel,
Revisit'st thus the glimpses of the moon.
Making night hideous” - Hamlet

A photo of a severed tree trunk. About 4’ high flanked by full height trees covered in creepers, Ivy. Beyond which is more of a wooded area. Out of shot is a small river or stream separating these trees from the rest of the copse. The tones are dark and image was taken late after on an overcast day in Kent. It made me think about a severed hand, the way the roots protrude from the base of the trunk like fingers and how it’s clear that of vines and lighter in colour as a result than the surrounding trees. Bloodless.

A photograph predominately of a women dressed in black sports wear and brilliant white trainers and with long blonde hair. She is standing deliberately leaning back a little and just behind a thigh high jet of water that is one of three at the edge of a pool of water. To create the effect she is standing up ‘peeing’. Her head is turned to two companions doing likewise but these two men are obscured from the camera by a tree and the planter it’s in. This being in the immediate foreground. Passersby are watching and smiling.
