Looking at building detail on the gran canal in Venice. It’s a wonderful orange/red building glowing marvellously in the sun. It had two Juliet balconies and a large number of windows. Some arched some not. The sun is casting shadows from buildings across the canal on to it. Rooflines that include two altanas (Venetian roof terrace). The building fills the frame.

Venice is a wonder for many reasons, one being that it was built it by driving wooden stakes through soft silt into hard clay that could hold up the buildings above.

A view down the Grand Canal in Venice at sunrise. It lined with amazing buildings, hotels, private , palaces and at the far end La Salute a famous Roman Catholic Church. As I was photographing the view a huge flock of, what I believe are, great cormorants flew along the canal. They made a marvellous spectacle.
