I warmed up again & could feel how much better my running performance was.
It’s only taken me 6 years of exercising post #hearttransplant to take that whole “you need to warm up” advice seriously. 🙄
Tied my best mile time— better late than never! 🏃♀️💪🏼

Transplanted ❤️s aren’t connected to the central nervous system so when exertion increases the ❤️ doesn’t know to beat faster & relies on adrenaline, which can take 8-12 minutes.
Today I tried something new & shaved 6 secs off my time!

I have no experience, but I’m learning & so far I’ve improved my distance from 3m to 4.5m!

I haven’t run in 8 months due to injury so today for giggles & a baseline time, I ran the same route I did on 7/13/25.
I ran mile 1 faster but struggled on 2&3. In the end, I was only +1:01 over my 2025 time. VICTORY! 💪🏼 🏃♀️

Oooop they removed a chest tube, now Abba's down to two! They're going to move him to the chair today, too! #HeartTransplant
Just heard from the surgeon and no complications! He said the new heart is strong and Abba did well!!
He'll stay sedated and intubated in the Cardiac ICU overnight and they'll try to have him awake by some time tomorrow.
What a relief!!!!

Abba's in the OR. Surgery should take about 8 hours (they have to remove the LVAD first, and then do the transplant). Fingers crossed. 🤞🏽

They'll reverse Abba's sedation and intubation in the AM, with discharge hopefully Saturday.

They took him down for pre-op, said go home, and if all goes well they'll call me once the transplant is done. Minimum 8 hours and they probably won't get started for another hour or two.
So I'm gonna go home and have some prosecco.
