As we listened to a crooning Turtle Dove in the Kings Forest, we were watched by a Fallow Deer in the light of the deliciously warm evening, sheltered from the breeze.

A Curlew was calling from Berner's Heath (viewed from the fence line), with a pair of Hobbies making appearances. On the #KingsForest rides, Wavy Hair-grass (Deschampsia flexuosa) flowering prettily & some magnificent stands of Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea). @Britnatureguide 7/10
Ragwort on the rides in #KingsForest having a hard time with Cinnabar Moth caterpillars. Sticky Groundsel (Senecio viscosus) in full bloom but not yet the Wood Sage (Teucrium scorodonia). Plenty of Small Heaths and Tree Pipits & Willow Warblers in full song @Britnatureguide 6/10
Blissful #Breckland #chalkgrassland in the #Kingsforest with Burnet-saxifrage (not in flower), Hairy Rock-cress (Arabis hirsuta), Common Birdsfoot Trefoil with plenty of Small Skippers (Thymelicus sylvestris) on the wing

My favourite part of the #KingsForest is the chalk grassland ride W of North Stow, with Purple Milk-vetch (Astralagus danicus), here visited by Fairy-ring Longhorn Beetle (Pseudovadonia livida) & Quaking Grass but the Purging Flax is afflicted by a rust.

Simply cannot have too much Viper's Bugloss (Echium vulgare) - such a great joy in summer Breckland, Weld (Reseda luteola) a perfect partner for it.
