Ornate (Thalassoma pavo), Peacock (Symphodus tinca) - here's a less common terminal male & Ocellated (S. ocellatus) wrasses all common in NW Sicily. Surprisingly, Rainbow Wrasse (Coris julis) is less so.

Salema (Sarpa salpa) are the other abundant seabream in NW Sicily. Less so Sharpsnout Seabream,(Diplodus puntazzo), Gilthead Seabream (Sparus aurata) & in the beach shallows, Bogue (Boops boops).

Red black-faced Triplefins (Tripterygion tripteronotum) are very common in the Gulf of Castellammare but I only saw one male in full breeding regalia.

As well as v tame Thicklip & Thinlip Grey Mullets, & Mediterranean Sand Smelt, plying the waters of Plage de La Palud, Port-cros, this pinkish fish - could it be a Bogue (Boops boops - great latin name!)? @inaturalist
