A near-globular flower head. The flowers open from the top of the globe downward, falling out when done. Here there is a ring of purple tubular flowers around the lower perimeter of the globe, and on top we see where the base of the flowers have remained like a an array of little tubes. It's wet from rain and there are several spent (brown) flowers visible.
