This photo shows an array of simple cyanotype prints, with their characteristic deep blue contrasting with lighter images of flowers and ferns, created via stencil. It is impossible not to think of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” when my classes complete these lab activities, and so it was nice to find inspiration for a limerick to highlight that link.

Cyanotype-themed in its topic,
Lab notes photochemical logic
With stencils and sun.
Once process is done,
Find prints themed in blue, most rhapsodic!

#NaPoWriMo Day 13 and as I am pushed for time today, here's the #poem that was in an Exhibition last year, written to accompany some original video content.

This was the birth of my Ekphrastic Response Period :D

Today's poem was written after receiving several texts, not knowing how to respond, playing my Angry playlist, screaming out lyrics, and still feeling a restless disconnect so strong I needed to vent.

I titled it I Never Understand and it'll never see daylight. #Poetry #NaPoWriMo

my boogie woogie is in me no one has let him out I thought about doing it and then I shut my mouth I’ve had a lot of poem ideas today. One had to do with ambulance drivers in New York City. There was something to do about Chemistry, something about physics.Speaking of science, Christmas is…

Easter is a few days away and
I don't know what disease I have.

Wouldn’t you love to wake up to an inbox full of job offers and I-miss-you emails from people, preferably real?

Ever have a conversation with someone over email? Really?

Grandma Giving Grandpa’s Toast Grandma gathers everyone around the table at Christmas or Thanksgiving, calls us to raise our glasses, and a hush rolls over the room. She lifts her glass, gives the toast now printed out and titled Grandpa Lenny’s Toast. She clears her throat. “Here’s to it, and from it, and to it again…” The words bounce around the table, everyone joining in, voices…

Everlasting cold
Not sure it’s not allergies
What day is it now?

Why do naps not work?
Isn’t sleep supposed to cure
What keeps us awake?

12 - Trust

These days we walk in strange and unaccustomed paths,
with alien plants and soporific scents.
We know the route.
We’ve seen the signposts,
and we hope that other people know the way.

I learned the vocab term “crepuscular rays” relatively recently for the specific scattering effect seen when sunbeams pass through clouds; such rays are more subtle in this photo than others I’ve taken, but some can be seen at the top. “Crepuscular” comes from the Latin for “twilight” (crepusculum)… and it is a descriptor that fits well into a limerick’s rhythm!

Note light’s seeming-tangible scattering;
A sunset, ostensibly “matter-ing”;
Crepuscular rays
In these long-evening days,
With twilight depictions most flattering.

12.4.2026 - View from a Train Window

Yorkshire is fresh green over chalk pale
earth, with the occasional neon yellow flash
of rapeseed, border trees with tentative
new leaves, long, corrugated iron
barns, the odd scattering of sheep,
blocky graffiti under bridges, and pylons
like huge steel walkers, sliding
past. When I was small I made
a game of watching them sync up
and drift apart. I do it now. Not much
has changed. Somewhere a bomb has just fallen.

Hey guys! How are y’all?

My 12th NaPoWriMo poem asks: who do we turn to when the police are corrupt? It’s a fear shared worldwide, not just in the Philippines.

Thanks for reading—see you in the next poem!

Arse Poetica by S. Reeson

you're stuck in here with me now making a conscious decision to
read past the slightly dodgy title it is clear this is not a lyrical affair
their work is overly emotional they are freely using pronouns
in a way that is making you uncomfortable and that’s only

the start

the curve that I am throwing
the truth that has been unearthed after a lifetime of not knowing
and being told to keep it down
and that I am overly devotional
and that’s why Poetry is both the end and the beginning is the changing
starting only with a description is never all that exists as the truth
is there are many ways I can write a poem but it’s only real inside
one mind if you wish your words to hold a million

try feeling

even more than the indignation those who aren't like you create
if you wish to be remembered give more than you predate

become pure

#NaPoWriMo Day 12 and I get to write a story tomorrow about how I am all too aware of the power of holding people back creatively, and how I will never allow myself to do that to anyone, ever. Just because they have a different way to create is neither wrong nor bad.

A #poem about #poetry LET'S GO.
