A very private power couple. This was my first time this year seeing her. It was very cloudy, and they kept their backs to me the whole time. #birds #birding #birdwatching #orioles #hoodedorioles #neotropical #neotropicalbirds

There are 6 Hummingbird species on #Tobago and 5 of them were new to me. I managed to get some short of shot of all of them. This species, White-tailed Sabrewing was the difficult one photographed at the rainforest edge.

Another new hummingbird during #tobago2025 was this Black-throated Mango. I saw lots of them but photo ops were scarce.

I have just had two weeks in the beautiful Caribbean island of Tobago. Green-rumped Parrotlet is very noisy and sometimes difficult to find this one showed well from my room in Castara.

Cobalt-winged Parakeets as they burst from the site of the salt water spring in the upper Amazon basin near the Napo river. Movie at next post. There are multiple sites like this one that birds flock to to get needed salts and minerals. We sat for several hours before we saw these fellows, scarlet Maccaws and a Blue-throated Piping Guan.Yep he is on my life list, yours? All for later posting.

A single Cobalt-winged Parakeet, surveying the salt lick and salt water spring site before he will head down to drink. See the next photo and the movies posted in a few minutes.

Cobalt-winged parakeet. This image was at the limits of camera 3200 ISO and lens and cropped substantially and up ressed. No one got close enough to give me a better shot.

One of my most wanted birds from Amazonia National Park in Brazil was the rare Golden Parakeet. Definitely a case of the photos not doing such a spectacular bird justice!
