A few hours walking the Devon side of The Blackdown Hills gave Tree Pipit, 2 Willow Warbler, at least 14 Yellowhammer & a good count of 54 Stock Dove amongst plenty of other common species. #Devonbirds #PWC2024

That’s probably it for the patch in 2024 & #PWC2024. 101 species for the year in a mixed arable / improved pasture area with a few old clay brick pits. 3 new species added for the patch & garden list (all seen from the study window. Lost Little Owl as breeding species but gained Barn Owl #ukbirding

Caught up with yesterday with @chris23565.bsky.social Tundra Bean goose #LadywalkNR at end of day with the monster Greylag flock. Took picking out as all the geese asleep. Needed an inquisitive Magpie to go to close and wake him up to see head/bill!

There is also a Red-necked Grebe just within the 10km #PWC2024 circle, so s'pose I ought to pay it a visit, if it won't drift down to patch...

Finally added Yellow-legged Gull for #PWC2024.
Gulls, especially immatures are a struggle. I need a good view and a bit of time to work out what's what.

The patch at Bremgarten airfield FR had a surprise in store this weekend with a tristis- / Siberian-type Chiffchaff. The sonogram displays its piping and, at the end, downslurred call. An exciting bird for these drap November days! #PWC2024 #ornithology

Fishery lane again showing its worth with Ben picking out a YBW this morning. Feeding mostly in Sallows between Blythe and Southern end of Bourne meadow along the lane. Same spot as the 3 Pied flys in Spring.
