A Snow Bunting at Balinoe #Tiree today was unexpected, as they have been very thin on the ground here this winter

Joined #Patchworkchallenge today. I've entered my 10km circle centred on my house in Redditch. Added Woodcock from a visit to Chalcot Wood by the junction of the M40/M42.
A photo showing the mouth of Hedon Haven and the surrounding mud.
Thought I'd have a nice walk to Saltend in the sun. Wasn't expecting the bitterly cold wind though.
Still, 3 new #patchworkchallenge ticks, including a singing Skylark that didn't care about the cold!

A dreich morning brightened up by my first 'thermal' Jack Snipe, one of 5. A quick sweep of one of several building sites revealed 14 Golden Plover, blending in with the crushed hardcore. #Patchworkchallenge #Ukbirding
Three 'Russian White-fronted Geese' (left hand birds) in flight with Greylags (and a sheep in the background) at the Meadow Burn, Fair Isle on 27th January 2025.
A quick tot-up of the year list so far shows I'm on 53 species; a slow start. Three White-fronted Geese arrived on Sunday, one of the few signs of movement so far this year, with Goldeneye, Red-throated Diver and a dead Little Auk amongst the the other less-expected species.
