"Coun. Shawn Cleary said research is clear that people have to feel comfortable cycling to actually hop on a bike, & ridership will not go up with unprotected painted lanes..." Yep, that's #PedalPoll research via @velocanadabikes.bsky.social #BikeHFX www.cbc.ca/news/canada/... 1/2
The mobility of care. A new analysis by @meghanwinters.bsky.social & her team highlights the value of e-bikes and cargo bikes for transporting children. Ties in nicely with @velocanadabikes.bsky.social plans for #PedalPoll 2026 too! findingspress.org/article/1547...
Our recent publication from #PedalPoll data made the case for protected #BikeLanes but the fight for #SafeStreets continues in Ontario courts to combat the bad faith arguments of the Ford government. Go get 'em @ecojusticecanada.bsky.social & @cycletoronto.bsky.social ecojustice.ca/news/doug-fo...
ICYMI (like I missed it) @velocanadabikes.bsky.social released this paper on cycling rate trends gathered from Canada’s national volunteer #PedalPoll cycling count.

🚨 New publication alert 🚨 4 years of #PedalPoll data confirms the old adage "build it & they will come" but high comfort & accessibility key to grow #cycling in 🇨🇦 . H/T @mbonsma.bsky.social @meghanwinters.bsky.social @velocanadabikes.bsky.social & others www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
When I did #PedalPoll this year I set up closer to James for 1 count and closer to John for the other. There was a difference of about 15 for each count of people entering\leaving the Go Station
New preprint alert! We analyzed four years of #PedalPoll data (thank you, volunteers!) and guess what: high-quality bike infrastructure is correlated with higher rates of people biking. @velocanadabikes.bsky.social

I will be at Bay and Cannon for my final #PedalPoll of 2025, have you been counted yet 😜
Set up at my 11th #PedalPoll location. 2 more to go after this one. Seen some interesting things and had some good conversations this week let's keep them going #HamOnt
Shows three dates of varying times (morning, bottom; noon, middle; afternoon, top) of the numbers of cyclists, pedestrians, and personal vehicles (scooters) to pass by me at site 6554, central Edmonton.
Finished my shifts at Counter Point ID: 6554 in the 2025 #PedalPollSondoVelo. The first one (bottom in picture) is early and only an hour long because it was just a test of the app, since this is my first time.

About to start my @velocanadabikes.bsky.social #PedalPoll shift. The counting spot is next to one of my favourite cafes. Yay! @bikeottawa.bsky.social
It’s truly a wonderful World Bicycle Day when my gloves fall off my bike in the morning and I find them very nicely displayed on the way home at 7pm #WorldBicycleDay #yycbike #PedalPoll
Me and my son in a small grassy area with the Urban Arrow in the background
My count showing 142 cyclists, 682 pedestrians, 2188 private vehicles, and 107 oversized vehicles.
Brought a little helper to my #PedalPoll shift today, home sick but not too sick to shout "BIKE!!!" every time we saw one.
It’s easy to do, hard to ignore! Data helps build safer, better streets for everyone on wheels.

Pedal Poll starts TOMORROW! If you have a two-hour window this week or this weekend, your count can add to a huge dataset of people biking in Canada! Watching the street for a couple hours is also just a very cool way to experience your neighbourhood.

Third reading of Bill 212 is happening now. I can't watch, it's making me feel too sad and helpless. So instead I'm working on the analysis for #PedalPoll 2024, real data lovingly collected by hundreds of volunteers.

I always try and get the early morning #PedalPoll count on Vernon so I can sip a coffee or three while counting at Dilly Dally!
