The Old Bothy Seeking a downpour’s shelter we came upon a lonely bothy its old stone walls were welcoming In its lone bed did we abide kept safe, held warm and so in Love we stayed till morning… Reluctantly parting at Dawn we thanked the bothy’s kindly walls and promised to return… Then as we walked away, I turned - and looking thru the mists of morn I could have sworn I saw its weathered door was smiling… ~Mischa💞 6 January 2026 A poem #vss (very short story) - written for today’s #haikufeels #abide though in no way could this be considered a haiku…mea culpa.🙏 Note: a bothy is (in Scotland) a small hut or cottage, especially one for housing farm labourers or for use as a mountain refuge. One could find many images of these extraordinarily beautiful - and often forlorn looking, isolated, old places - in an image search. But I wished to leave this verse as it is, hoping the words will somehow take your imagination there… ~M💞
Tho I tried to abide by the rules of haiku, I found my words wandering so far from the form, I followed their lead…

a creamy block hovers atop a rich orange. below the block sits a earthenware jar labeled "HUNNY" with one N turned backward, a honey dipper spilling shiny molten amber into the body of the honey jar. it’s familiar in a nostalgic way, though you can’t quite figure out where you have seen it before. on the cream block is written a poem, titled "if feeling is first—" "if feeling is first, then I'll make sweet like honey my words, whisper loving is nothing that money can take. and if feeling is first, then we'll cancel our unwanted plans, eat our dinner by candle glow, dance in the moon glimmer, color the light— we'll sing through the day and brush lips in the night."
