Salthouse’s medieval church sits on the edge of what was once a wide tidal inlet. St Nicholas was built in the 14th C when the coast here was alive with trading creeks. By 1600s the marshes had silted, the shore moved north & the great shingle ridge formed the landscape we see today. #Salthouse

You only live twite! A beach walk from #Cley to #Salthouse and back was rewarded with a small, but confiding flock of #Twite. Cherries on a cake that included hundreds more geese (DBB are quickly becoming my faves), and a barn owl first thing. #norfolkbirding

Interesting that the village has a “Toad Patrol” from Dawn to Dusk, signs warn drivers of volunteers in road!
Our juvenile toad was well behaved - it kept to the public footpath! 😉
