Both sides use a maroon thread color. The back side has rows of alternating dashed lines that build up a pattern not unlike a brick wall. The front side has threads woven through those dashes, to form a 3D honeycomb-like effect.
Oh, hey, embroidery doesn't have to be fussy or fancy. Or even difficult!
If you can sew a simple in-out, in-out repeat, you can make this design! See how the "honeycomb" threads are actually just tucked under the stitches instead of sewn?
I love this design! #sashiko is so relaxing for me.
