By building up the domestic soy industry and supply chain, while creating consumer demand for high-protein ...

The article I co-authored on our social marketing program in Afghanistan just came out!

It's a case study of how we developed both the supply side of the soy industry and spurred demand on the consumer side. And how the campaign balanced the commercial and public health objectives.

Trump says he’s planning ‘large-scale’ ad campaign on fentanyl crisis President-elect Trump announced plans to launch a “large-scale” ad campaign on Wednesday with the goal of educating Americans on the effects of fentanyl. “I will be working on a large scale United …

Haven't seen any discussion of Trump's plan to launch a large-scale ad campaign on fentanyl.

I've been concerned about how funding for social marketing might be affected by the election, so hopefully this would be more than a "just say no" style campaign, and actually evidence based.

I'm still on the lookout for my fellow social marketers.

Do you use marketing for behavior change, social change, public health, environmental causes, etc? Or study/teach it?

Say hi and let me know what you're doing!

It covers how stories influence behavior and examples of how to use it most effectively in an intervention.

There's a new starter pack directory from @il.ly, sorted by category, at blueskystarterpack.com.

For some reason mine is not coming up in search, so I changed the name from Social Marketers to Social Marketing (the most likely search phrase), but still not showing up.

Goop Happens - by Traci Mann - Behavioral Scientist As important as our ideas are the words we choose to represent them. If we're not careful, they can take on a life of their own.

Great example from @behscientist.bsky.social of how the words we use to describe a concept, that make total sense to us, can be completely misconstrued.

It's true for professional jargon, or really any words.

This is why pretesting messaging with our audience is key!

Being safe is their most important goal, according to a recent study.

How can you tie your target behavior or product to a feeling of safety, to connect with their core value?

I put together a starter pack of people I could find here who work in social marketing (not social media mktg).

If you use marketing to influence behaviors for health/social/environmental good, or know others who should be on the list, let me know and I'll add you.

When designing health messages, don't only consider their effectiveness, but also any potential unintended consequences on the mental health of those exposed to the campaign.
