Another perspective of the spindle on my knitting loom. This time my grey Gotland wool is being wound from the spindle on to my nostepinne, or ball winder.

No lazy kate? No bobbins? Got a knitting loom? Why not use it as a DIY lazy kate. It absolutely works for me. A then and now collage of yarn spun on my spinning wheel a year ago and recently. The image on the left is from one year ago when I first got a spinning wheel, and I love it, but it has many mistakes and is a work in progress. The more recent image on the right is much more consistent in weight and full of rich colors.

It’s been a magical year since I got my spinning wheel and transitioned from drop spindle to spinning wheel the vast majority of the time… Fun to see how far I’ve come!

I usually default to spinning from a worsted style prep, but my heart is with spinning woolen preps. I'm currently spinning this Falkland top dyed by Fuzzyfrog Fibers by teasing out a single staple length and folding it over my finger. Works great!
