The 2-stage C15 tower of #StGeorgeHanham #Gloucestershire is physically connected to the adjacent Hanham Manor (notable for its gardens). Church and manor have C13 origins, the latter owned by Keynsham Abbey. Parapet pierced with cusped arcade and upper quatrefoil #TowerTuesday

Polygonal stair turret with one or more #TinyWindow per stage. Intricately decorated at the level of the parapet and surmounted by a ribbed octagonal spirelet crocketed at the top with finial

Castell Coch - a corking monument to Victorian wealth, on a genuinely historic site. (And it is good to see @btfstills.bsky.social joining in #TowerTuesday.)
#Castles
A large and impressive castle tower, against a pale blue sky, framed by an arched gateway.
The Great Tower, #Ludlow Castle, viewed across the outer bailey through the gatehouse. The tower was originally a gatehouse itself, part of an enclosure castle; it was enlarged & later rebuilt, & the outer bailey added.

The 'west tower' is actually set to the north west and so is aligned with the north aisle rather than the nave. The large Perpendicular window to the right is really the west window of the nave.
West tower #StMaryRedcliffe Bristol for #TowerTuesday
A 3-stage tower. Lower portions date to C13, upper stage to C14. Very Gothic is all Mouse can say and have to admit that she prefer the comparative simplicity of the Somerset towers

As #TowerTuesday wends to a close, here are a few shots of the wonderful landmark tower of the New Laigh Kirk in Kilmarnock, our #scottishchurchoftheweek
The four stage tower was built in the 17th century and predates the adjacent church that was raised in 1802 by architect Robert Johnstone.

The #MouseEyeView... #HolyTrinityBristol for #TowerTuesday
The twin C19 west towers (indeed the west elevation generally) is a curious mix of Early English and Decorated-style. Mouse senses that Victorian architects leant toward Decorated rather than Perpendicular...
The cathedral of the #HolyTrinityBristol is a cruciform design (Mouse favourite) as you might expect from a former abbey church. The design makes it very hard to photograph the crossing tower, but fortunately this cathedral has two west towers (Victorian of course) #TowerTuesday

An angular 1960s leisure and office complex in a busy city centre. There are shops at ground level with two main structures above: on the left, a long, mid-rise hotel (with 'Mercure Hotel' written up the side and at the top); and on the right, a narrower high-rise block at right angle to the hotel. Completed in 1965, the complex was developed by Bernard Sunley & Sons: the tower was originally 'Sunley House' (often 'Sunley Tower'), & a now demolished pagoda-like building on the far side was 'Bernard House'.
Piccadilly Plaza, #Manchester, with City Tower on the right. I worked in the tower for a few years in the early 2000s, when it was still the second tallest building in Greater Manchester.
Since then, 22 others have overtaken it.

The bell stage has one louvred 2-light opening on each side with trefoil (headed) lights and single quatrefoil tracery.
Back to Bishops Cannings today to climb up the tower & appear outside on top of the world. Looking down from the heights of this outstanding Early English building gives a completely different perspective on the church’s design and its place in the local community.

The West end of a very old church building, viewed from up close. A rough stone tower is flanked by two later aisles, each of different design, giving an asymmetrical appearance.
For #TowerTuesday, the wonderful 10th century example at the Church of St. Mary, Deerhurst, #Gloucestershire. Substantial parts of the building are pre-Conquest, and with another Saxon church 100-odd yards away (Odda's Chapel), the place is a time-machine. #ChurchCrawling
