A small, spiky black bug with a tan abdomen. It is clinging to the stalk of a plant.
When I found this insect in the summer of 2023 I called it the most adorable thing I'd ever seen. Not everyone agreed with me. BUT, it's a teeny, tiny, baby assassin bug and I still this it's super cute. (Sinea sp.) Pennsylvania #Inverts

(Symphylus ramivitta) Tatama National Park, Colombia
A small, oblong shaped insect that has alternating red and green stripes on its wings. It standing on a leaf and has a small droplet of liquid flying away from its read end.
Red-banded Leafhoppers drink lots of sap and produce lots of waste fluid. They launch the fluid away from themselves and an interesting study showed that they use the surface tension of the droplet like a spring to launch droplets further. 🤓
