On the previous night in West Dorset we got (Water Carpet?) high on a wall, Pale Pinion and a nice fresh Brindled Beauty. Lovely to see good numbers of moths even with the cold nights.

Forget birdwatching, I’m into moth-watching: they’re fascinating and misunderstood insects | Helen Pilcher According to new research, distinguishing between the UK’s 2,500 species could halt cognitive decline – so my brain could not be happier, or healthier, says science writer Helen Pilcher

Tapped an attractive micro-moth out of ivy in my Waltham Abbey garden today, I think it is a Fig-leaf Skeletoniser (Choreutis nemorana), although no Fig trees in the immediate vicinity. #EssexWildlife #UKMoths

Hummingbird Hawkmoth flew through my garden this morning, pausing to feed on Ivy. Feels like a late record for this species.

I wonder if any UK moth-ers out there recognise this Moth larva .I found it back in May ,it was around 25mm in length and appeared to be more or less fully grown ,and possibly a Sedge/Grass/Rush feeder. Any ideas/opinions much appreciated ! @kentfieldclub.bsky.social #kentmoths #mothsmatter #ukmoths

Found on yesterday's Norfolk Fungus Study Group foray at Tacolneston Hall.

First Norfolk record was in 2013, now spreading across the county. A new species for me.

A phone call from Paul Leafe saying he had a Death Head’s Hawkmoth at the Hay on Wye vs Presteigne footy match flying around the floodlights before landing on a handrail had me shooting over. A 1st for me. I even saw my 1st ever Pine Marten on the way back! What an amazing night ☺️👍 #ukmoths
