Red wing Blackbird walking on grass
Other week over in North Wales a blackbird flew across my eye line and as it banked a shot of red was visible I believe I may have seen a Red wing Blackbird native to Americas and Canada #firstbirdoftheday #ukbird

A grey heron stands alone in low light, surrounded by tall, thin reeds. The bird's feathers are illuminated with a gentle glow, contrasting with the dark background. It appears calm and serene, its head tucked in, suggesting a resting or reflective stance.
A grey heron stands in tall, dry grass with a vole caught in its beak. The background is blurred with green and brown foliage, drawing focus to the bird and its prey in the centre of the image.
A Grey Heron perches on a snow-covered branch, facing left, with feathers puffed up for warmth. Nearby, a black and white bird flies on the right. Surrounding trees are dusted with snow, creating a serene winter scene under the misty, white sky.
Two grey herons engage in an aerial dispute in a woodland setting. One hovers above with wings spread wide, while the other, wings partially open, faces upward. The background is dense with dark, bare branches and leaf-littered ground, creating a dramatic, natural scene.
One of my favourite birds to photograph has to be the Grey Heron. So I thought I would share a few of my favourite images.

Which is your favourite image?
A vibrant kingfisher with blue and orange plumage perches on a slender, angled branch. It gazes intently at a hovering insect. The background is a blurred mix of warm, earthy tones, evoking its natural habitat near water. Soft, warm lighting completes the serene scene.
"Transfixed"
Me watching the kingfisher.
The kingfisher watching the insect.
The insect…probably wondering how it got into this high-stakes staring contest.

First time we've come across a bean goose without someone pointing it out to us. The orange legs stood out among the small group of pink-footed geese at Sandwick this morning.

We get a blackcap in our garden maybe once a year, seeing two today was exceptional. I'm not sure how much they enjoyed the rosehips.

A red brown bird standing in thick heather
Finally managed to capture a picture of a red grouse in the #cairngorms in #scotland. We heard a Stange noise first and the Merlin app helped identify them. So amazingly camouflaged in the heather.
