Mount Ijen in Indonesia shows unique "liquid sulphur" phenomena where volcanic vents (fumaroles) exhaling sulphur-rich gases: first channeled through pipes, then cooling to form molten red-orange sulphur that solidifies into bright yellow sulphur chunks. A truly massive amount of grey ash covers everything in the field of view, including a house in the foreground. All that remains visible above this eerily soft, undulating layer of grey, are the tops of trees and the peak of the house's roof.

A very similar shot of a different home, in front of the first, similarly buried under what must be at least 6 feet of ash.

A final shot of the second home in the foreground, but this time with the volcano looming in the background, apparently still emitting smoke and/or ash, though presumably at a much lesser degree that prior, as the sky has somewhat cleared relative to the other two photographs.

Found some great ref for the Ashen Plain zone I'm working on right now. This is the island La Palma (in the Canary Islands) after an eruption in 2021 (iirc).
