My uncle in Germany converted his entire second storey to a model railroad. In Burlington Ontario, there is a group that loves rail roads like he did. They share their love through a Christmas display at the RBG.

The same #road to a pooja spot 15 km east of Rameswaram, with the tide in and out. When I was there in 2008, the only way to the pooja spot was by heavy vehicle – truck or jeep – or walking. There's a paved road now.

Picture shows a six story building with a two storey entryway under the centre. The right and left sides are shaped like circular towers and are pierced with windows. The circular shape and the windows allow the gate to be defended from the inside. The gateways through York's defences are called 'bars'. The name has its origins in the simple gates, which were used to block the gateways to keep people out. There are five main “bars” (big gateways), one postern (a small gateway) one Victorian gateway, and 45 towers. At least six reigning monarchs passed through this gate. Its symbolic value led to traitors' severed heads being displayed on the defences. Heads left there to rot included: Henry Hotspur Percy (1403), Henry Scrope, 3rd Baron Scrope of Masham (1415), Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York (1461), and Thomas Percy, 7th Earl of Northumberland (1572).

In the mid to late 19th century, there was strong competition between Canada and the US, with the Canadians often scrambling to keep as little American involvement in Canada as possible. The short passenger rail lines were a popular means of travelling from one town to another for picnics and for evenings out. A popular destination from St. Thomas and London was Port Stanley on Lake Erie.
The Rail #road system had a surprisingly brief life in Canada.
This mural celebrates the heyday of the railroad in #StThomas. The smokestack can be seen puffing when the building’s chimney is smoking.
