Spotted an adult Tawny Owl in a West Lothian woodland a couple of days ago. Returned this morning to check the area and eventually spotted a head just about visible through the branches.

Checked the adjacent trees and there about 20 feet away were two owlets.

Surprised when a Ring Necked Parakeet (Psittacula krameri) flew past me pursued by two magpies. It landed on the window ledge of the house I was picking my wife up from. When I told her friend she pulled out her phone and showed me a shot of it looking in through the window. It has apparently been resident around the street for about a year. Probably an escapee but appears happily naturalised. There are at least two flying around the Duddingston area in Edinburgh. Large flocks in Glasgow and thousands of them in London and spreading north.

This January report to the Council Executive lists the various funding amounts obtained by the Council for active travel projects in financial year 25/26, and how they are to be used [I think this means the contractors must be appointed by end 25/26 financial year]. There are a variety of 'promotion' projects, plus the following infrastructure... • Cycle link along the B7066 (Whitburn) from Armadale Road to Polkemmet Roundabout (£990,000); • A904 - Duntarvie and Abercorn Junction Upgrades construction, as outlined in Section 7.1.4 of the Active Travel Plan 2024-29 (£150,000); • Dixon Terrace, Whitburn Cycleway design progression (£129,000) • Removing Barriers to Accessibility, various locations (£50,000). • [Design only] Threemiletown to Uphall, and Uphall to Uphall Station. 2. West Lothian Local Access Forum is looking for one or two new members with interest in cycling, as most of their current members are only knowledgeable about walking.
