New walking and cycling trail completed on North Pender The Schooner Way Trail, which connects Danny Martin Ballpark to Pender Island School, is the first phase of a trail expected to eventually extend to Otter Bay ferry terminal.

Pender Islands becoming a better place to bicycle, one piece at a time. Looking forward to being able to bicycle from ferry terminal to South Pender on a dedicated trail. #fingerscrossed #yyjbike

"ebikes replace car trips" But what if I wouldn't have done this by car in the first place? Today I went to Saturna Island, a place I've only sailed to. With an ebike I went all the way to East Point and summit Warburton Pike - 402m (1300ft)! I wouldn't ever drive this as a day trip

Every now and then I am reminded how blessed I am to live in a city that isn't completely incompetent in how they build protected bike lanes.

I love you @victoria.ca. #yyjbike

I am so impressed that @victoria.ca is improving our #yyjbike infrastructure without endless public consultation. Another street bikes will be able to use! This along with the Cook Street Project - simultaneous, no less - will add a huge amount of protected bike infrastructure and make roads safer!

This must mean new protected bike lanes soon. #wootwoot #yyjbike

LETTER: Greater Victoria population supports growing cycle network - Victoria News Send your letter to newsroom@vicnews.com

I'm always happy when people push back against the misleading anti-bike nonsense from ”very serious people" that regularly appears in the local papers. This is an excellent example in @victorianews.bsky.social.

Pandora bike lanes to be fast tracked after update from Victoria staff Cyclists using the corridor along the Shelbourne and Pandora might see more safety improvements after fast tracking bike lanes in the area received initial approval.

Victorian’s are pretty fortunate to live in a city that continues to demonstrate a willingness to prioritize humans by creating safer routes that will make it easier to leave the car at home. #yyjbike #yyj

Recommendation
That Council direct staff to:
1) Prioritize expansion of the All Ages and Abilities (AAA) bike and roll mobility network on
Pandora street, east of Cook, to connect with both Oak Bay Junction and the Shelbourne
protected route via Begbie by the end of 2026.

2) Provide a verbal update to council on the current plans for the expansion of the cycling network
in 2026 and what the implications to the 2026 financial plan would be, if any, to complete the
Pandora East Begbie/Shelbourne project by the end of 2026.

Councillor Thompson's and Dell's "Pandora East" motion just passed unanimously. Notably, this DOES NOT commit the city to build anything, but asks staff to prioritize this project, and to report back on funding implications.

Construction begins March 10 on new Oak Bay neighbourhood bikeways Improved cycling routes are coming to Oak Bay, with construction set to begin March 10 on two neighbourhood bikeways aimed at bolstering safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

Happy this routes getting upgrades, but thought pedestrian/bicyclist engaged traffic lights to cross Foul Bay on Haultain would be more appropriate then flashing lights that, if like others, will warn you to watch out for cars that don’t stop. #yyjbike

2/3 some people who don't ride in downtown #VictoriaBC much are not aware of how *slow* many people on bikes are when the weather is good. Speeds below 15 km/hr are common for children and adults on acoustic bikes. At busy times the flow on downtown bike lanes is commonly around 20 km/hr. #yyjbike

Well the number of cars I passed on my commute suggests that people have noticed the bridge is (partially) closed.

I did my part to demonstrate that they would be happier on a bike.
