Normally I think #uKai is a terrible actor. Wooden, single expression (shades of #YangYang) while beautiful. But he was great #YanxiPalace. Truly tragic. Also liked him in #FallingtoYourSmile mind you.

Got used to it in #YanxiPalace but Xu Kai was the only one who looked good. I liked the Emperor but bald head made him look older than he was.

The good news is I wouldn’t call #Glory a dark melo (unlike it’s sister Chinese & Korean titles) - it’s more like #YanxiPalace meets A Midsummer Night's Dream 😅

I’ve been watching #glory, on episode 7, and somehow it’s not keeping my interest. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because I’m also watching #yanxipalace and this #cdrama is so good. I’ll go back to finish it after I get a little #rowoon fix. Rewatching my favorite scenes from #kingsaffection.

I've called #Glory "Yanxi Palace with men"! And of course ML is Yingluo! Thanks for this info. No wonder it's so brilliant. #YanxiPalace is the gold standard for all palace/harem (male or female) dramas imo.

Concubine Gao’s voice is driving me crazy. It’s so high pitchy. I get that she’s an opera singer and that’s her persona but it’s tough to listen to her wail. #yanxipalace

#yanxipalace on episode 30 and I agree with everyone’s assessment. It’s so good that it doesn’t feel long. I’m already on 30 and I’m wondering what the troublemaker #yingluo will do next.

I love how they showed the purest concubine Xian turned evil.

I didn’t want to say in case it’s a spoiler for someone - but I guess it’s not a big deal, & most people don’t know who he is anyway

He’s Wu Jinyan’s husband - they met on the set of #YanxiPalace (when she was playing the FL, & he was playing a villain no less 🙂)

Our tastes broadly overlapped - although I could never understand why she was so reverential about #Healer 😅 (I liked the show, but it wasn’t revelatory as it was to her)

Once I got into cdramas I started to find other blogs to follow (eg, for historicals like #YanxiPalace & #Minglan I read

She was the FL from #TheDouble - but #YanxiPalace is what made her a star 🌟

Maybe it’s more true of historicals but a FL who is a genius is not that unusual

In my current drama Minglan is clearly a genius & just as insightful - if not more - as her ML. The same is true of #YanxiPalace, #BlossomsinAdversity & #TheDouble

You read the book?! Ah yes same heroine as #YanxiPalace right? I will give it another try though. I did like the tortured villain character, and I dropped before the leads got together. But the ending is ambiguous I heard?

I totally loved #TheDouble - it felt as though Wu Jinyan’s character from #YanxiPalace stepped into a new revenge story 🔥

I believe the drama changed bits from the book, which makes the beginning less believable (I forget now if it’s because the book was a rebirth story that censors would reject)

#ShadowLove another totally over the top but very watchable drama. Just finished yesterday. Got bored with #MoonlitReunion (I've never liked Xu Kai beyond #YanxiPalace & #FallingIntoYourSmile). Heading back to WDBTD though it was getting stressful.

Yes ! The closest was #AreYouTheOne imo. I love action historical romance #cdrama like #Blossom or #ThePrisonerOfBeauty but I really would enjoy a more "family structure focused drama" like this or #YanxiPalace or #Minglan again!

Transmigrators are definitely my favourite historical characters 😅. I believe Minglan was a transmigrator too (& perhaps even Yingluo from #YanxiPalace)

Good choice 👌 I somehow had a clue you would take this... for #cdrama i would have chosen #YanxiPalace.
I loves the second half of Minglan so much but struggled a lot with the start...

Apparently the main writer wrote the script for #YanxiPalace, which was a brilliant but heavy drama with many dark edges. My supposition is that the attempt to transition from that darker kind of story to a lighter, comic rom-com is not completely natural for him - hence the awkwardness.

Because everyone in the #cdrama feed was talking about it I started #thedouble yesterday. Dark, lots of drama, evil villains, at least two revenge arcs and Wu Ji Yan. The perfect drama after my #yanxipalace rewatch. I hope this will be as much fun as it seems right now.
