A flock of c140 hirundines over Low Burnhall Woods contains at least 2 House Martins. My first of the year. Also singing Willow Tit. #birdingNE
An interesting warbler was singing in Hardwick Park (County Durham) today.
Not 'typical' Iberian Chiffchaff song apparently. However birds recorded in Spain and Portugal, seem to show quite some variation.
Pics and a sonogram (some song and the only call I heard in 2hours @6s).

Photo of a grey rock surrounded by broken shells of garden snails, presumably the work of a Song Thrush
The grey stone where the thrush knocks….
I didn’t see the perpetrator - nor did I wait until sunset - but someone’s had a smashing time.

Small wader, mottled brown back and bib with a clean white underside standing close to an anchor chain.
Turnstone on Amble harbour staying still for the photo. (Of course the ball and chain helps). #BirdingNE #Birds

Gull people, can you tell me if this looks like a Casp at N Shields Fish Quay (9:20, today, flew west)? It stuck out to me, but I never see the bloody things, so I'm unsure. I'm out and about, so can't compare on a large screen. @yellowbrow.bsky.social, what do you reckon? Cheers!

#birdingNE My Mam tells me there's currently a Mandarin in Barnes Park, Sunderland. Many years ago I saw a male Wood Duck there (so long ago, it was called a Carolina), but I suspect this has better credentials (and I still need it for my Barnes Park list!).
A Dunlin stands in shallow water, its reflection disturbed only by ripples caused by its own movement.
Spent the day on the hunt for Snow Bunting around Boulmer and Craster, but alas to no avail. Plenty of the regular waders about though inc Purple Sandpiper, Bar-tailed Godwit, Turnstone and Grey Plover. Nice to get good views of Dunlin too. #UKBirding #BirdingNE
