A mallard mother is seen nesting among a cavity in the roots of an oak tree 3 days ago.

Mallard mom was able to take an extended break from incubating her eggs to feed and bathe 🧘🏾. Freezing temperatures are done for us.

Yesterday afternoon on female and four male brown headed cattlebirds appeared at the main feeder.

New to me is the lark sparrow, perched on the fence and sang a bit as I refreshed the water and seed mixture.

The lawn guys with their jet engine blowers just finished.

A Cormorant has found the best place on the lake to catch sunlight and a warm breeze. Its wings are not waterproof. It is standing towards the sunlight and incoming breeze. It turns its head to the left and to the right while doing this.

Reserved, part of a Purple Martin Colony. A swallow that migrates from as far as Brazil to raise two sometimes three clutches. Seen underneath highways from San Antonio to North TX. What a sight to behold they come by the hundreds. Heads-up on flight training days! (Notice the 👎🏽futile attempts to eradicate them🌎)
