#Bluegreenalgae produce bluegreen colored pigments/are high in protein, iron, & other minerals/are a good source of omega3 fatty acis &antioxidants. Synechococcus elongatus is particularly knpwn for soaking up CO2 during its photosynthesis; it grows fast in dense colonies in sea water.

A green heron stands on a small limb in a pond. The pond is covered with blue-green algae, so the surface is entirely green. The heron is looking off to the left. It has a long, pointed black beak and a bright yellow eye with a black pupil. The top of its head is a dark blue-grey color. Between the top of its head and the wings it is reddish-brown with a white patch under the chin and white on its belly. The wings are also a blue-grey color, but much lighter than the top of the head. It has short, bright yellow legs which are clinging to the limb.
