A grey heron on a grey day at RSPB Lodmoor in Dorset, for today's #birdoftheday. Easily the most 'dinosaur' of our native birds.

found the Short-Eared Owl at Dawlish Warren today at 6:30pm with @wildweevils.bsky.social, was an insane experience! flew right past our heads but unfortunately was too quick for us to snap a quick photo :_( #devonbirds #britishbirding @warrenbirding.bsky.social

Earlier in the month, Dad and I visited the Suffolk coast. Of course the Zitting Cisticola was the highlight but the showy young Black Stork gave outrageous views. More on justwildimages.blogspot.com

birds were feeding in an unharvested mixed crop of wheat and barley in a 100 acre or so field. Magical. The largest flock of Corn Buntings I’ve ever seen in my life. @lincsbirding.bsky.social #Britishbirding

Once we arrived back in Newcastle on Sunday morning it was decided to finish our trip on a high. We drove up & did the very long walk through the sand dunes & beach to try & see the American Pipit on Ross sands. I was totally shattered, but it was worth it.

‘Operation Jaundice’ successfully completed. The vocal male AMERICAN YELLOW WARBLER in Kent eventually showed well to the crowd today. It’s a little Christmas miracle! 🪶 #ukbirding #megaalert #winterbirding #kentbirding #britishbirding #peakybirders

Today was a good day, treated myself to these bad boys, Swarovski NL Pure 10x52.
To say they are good is an understatement, outstanding optics and really comfortable to use, blown my EL's out of the water and I thought I would never say that! #britishbirding
