I am offered a talk at the #CCPEM Spring Symposium and this is making me excited and scared at the same time. Strange mix of feelings. 🙃

This is the coolest #cryoEM conference I have been to. Very happy to have an opportunity to attend again!

The first ten years of the CCP-EM Spring Symposium, an annual conference to bring together the cryoEM community to present and discuss the latest methodological advances and applications, are described #Cryoem #ElectronCryoMicroscopy #CCPEM doi.org/10.1107/S205...

I have a #cryoEM screening session booked in a bit more than a week, but after reading the #CCPEM list today, I’m scared it will shake the very foundations of physics. 😮
Should I cancel this microscope time? 🤔

Finally, one thing that struck me is how friendly this conference and community are!

I sometimes write to the CCPEM mailing list and CryoSPARC forum, and generally try to answer questions when I can contribute something helpful. A few people told me they recognized my name from there and had […]

One highlight from Friday that I forgot: Alister Burt's talk on his efforts to build #TeamTomo, a set of community-supported software packages and metadata standards for #cryoET. This is difficult work, and less rewarding for those in academia, but so essential. It's great to see progress on […]

Guillaume from our group has been on the #CCPEM symposium. Check out his highlight and reflections here!

And some highlights from earlier today:

CryoCloud.io seems like a great single-particle analysis suite. They developed their own deep learning particle picker, which apparently outperforms Topaz. I hope this will be published, very curious to see how it works. It’s always great to have more […]

These three days have passed by so fast, and here I am collecting my thoughts already on the way back home…

More highlights from Thursday:

Jessie Zhang showed great progress with the development of the Laser Phase Plate! Data collection with LPP on is now routine for both single-particle and […]

Couple of highlights from today Thursday (well, technically yesterday now, since it's getting late).

LocScale version 2 from Arjen Jakobi's group seems very helpful and I will try it as soon as I am back at the lab.

Doppio seems super nice, and has been made easier to install. I also need to […]

At the #CCPEM Spring Symposium since yesterday, and it's been so nice! ❄️ 🔬

The schedule is packed and I try to pay attention to the talks, so no live posting. But I'll try to post some of my personal highlights under this post as I find time to reflect. 🧵

Phenomenal talk by @GaiaPigino to finish the #CCPEM symposium! That "two-tracks" CLEM study is one of the most elegant observations since the discovery of IFT😍. And it makes me happy that the dhc1b-3 mutant I isolated with classical UV as a student with @WallaceUcsf was useful😃

Fantastic #CCPEM talk by @DTegunov, demonstrating the power of #Warp + M 🤩. The in situ visual proteomics era has begun! Also, a nice display of our membranorama thylakoid collaboration. Thanks, Dimitry!! 😃

Fascinating #CCPEM symposium talk by @DaumLaboratory on Archea. That slide about filamentous viruses eating along the pilli(?) like spaghetti 🍝 blew my mind 🤯
