It is snowing on this light colored male elephant seal and darker female elephant seal. This was on South Georgia Island. We landed in a zodiac and splashed through the water to pull our camera gear out of our dry bags and go explore. One gentleman leaned his bag against a big rock only to have it turn around and grunt at him - the elephant seals were that huge. We did our best to stay far enough away - but the dangers were the fur seals. It was close to breeding season and the males would attack you if they thought you were approaching them. They can move around 12 mph - faster than i could on the snow and ice! South Georgia Island is protected - only a few scientists on the huge island. You dont litter and there are no facilities. Most beautiful place i have ever been
