My 9.25” x 12.5” linocut print on ivory washi with collaged papers illustrates Thumbelina. The tiny girl printed in black with her hair streaming out behind her swoops in on the back of a swallow in black, and blue with a red chin. Below her a tiny flower fairy prince in a crown with wings stands in a flower and reaches towards her, printed in gold. The base of the print is covered in large flowers in pink, peach, yellow, orange and violet with green stems and leaves. The rest of the print is framed with apple blossoms in pink on white with green leaves.

The last #FolktaleWeek2024 prompt is #FolktaleWeekBlossom so I printed an illustration of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale Thumbelina (Tommelise).
