A Dark-eyed Junco (Junco hyemalis) was standing on a small stick that was lying on the ground near Symphoricarpos orbiculatus and Smilax in Norman, Oklahoma, United States on February 23, 2025. The Smilax had been eaten nearly to the ground by deer.

A macro shot of some Earleaf Greenbriar (Smilax auriculata) growing on a sandy dune. The thorny vine the berries and leaves sprout from is in the right of the frame. The lobed leaves have clearly defined veins and the berries appear dehydrated. The picture is shot in a lilac monochrome leaving the whole image with a lovely purple hue.

A macro shot of some Holly berries with the background severely out of focus leading the eye to focus on the sharp berries. The usual red that holly spouts is instead replaced by a light lilac hue as the image is shot in monochrome.

A macro shot of a succulent growing from the sandy dunes. The leaves are covered in thin white strands of what looks like spider webs giving a nice contrast to the dark leaves. The image is shot in lilac monochrome giving a warm hue to the scene.

Some macro lilac monochrome to try something a little different

I was inspired by the interior designers of the early 20th century. #DorthyDraper who was the Martha Stewart of her time. She designed hotels the most famous was the #Greenbriar that she designed in the 1940’s. She designed the interiors of cars and airplanes. I designed my LR inspired by her
