The horse has pushed its head through the middle of them, parting the strips to the left and right like curtains. Only the horse’s head and the very top of its neck are visible between the hanging strips. You can see its white blaze on the forehead. The ears are pricked forward, showing interest or attention. The large dark eye is clearly visible, looking straight toward the camera. The mane is black and slightly tousled. On the tow-path of a canal. In the background, a decorated canal barge is pulled up under a short, steel fabricated bridge with stone abutments.
