creek in a rocky landscape with wet fallen leaves and bright green ferns and moss. skinny trees are mostly bare and the sky is grey.
decaying dark brown wood above a strip of bright green moss and lichen and little plants. at the bottom are orange leaves made vibrant by water on the ground
close up of a large log that was cut in half a long time ago. a lot of little ledges and variations in color makes it look like a rock face
a small boulder on the shores of a pond, surrounded by thinning ice. on the far side of the pond there are more boulders and a mix of evergreens and bare trees

Moss, twigs, last year's decaying leaves and bright red fungi, disc-shaped and forming bowls.
A rare sight with here, so very happy about this find: Sarcoscypha coccinea.
Scharlachroter Kelchbecherling in German, but I prefer the English name:

#Mosstodon in the spring.
A screenshot from the Gettyimages database shows a picture from the opening ceremonies of tall trees with a rich green canopy.
Tall trees tower above reaching their foliage up into the sky. One tree with its base near the right of the photographer is brown colored and stops about 50 ft up.
I am so sad and annoyed this morning.
They are topping more trees in Cathedral Grove.

some roof moss #Mosstodon
some very festive long-nosed looking conks, with lanky black bodies pouring downward and fanning out with their characteristic orange-to-white umbrella shape, decorated even more festively with some surrounding pine needles
some type of fungus with coral-like minuscule holes, spreading over most of the surface of a log, mostly in shade but a few bits catching oblique sunlight, framing a small sprig of bright green young moss in the center
some type of light brown shelf/bracket mushroom, evidently VERY old: its outer surface has cracked like dried mud, and a large missing chip exposes a decaying black interior, woven with a slight sprig of moss
a lush flush of Turkey Tail mushrooms with their signature "alternating layers of colors fanning out in tie-dye fashion" green-whites and light browns
yet more #MushroomMonday , there's never any shortage of them around here 😅

a slightly zoomed-out "fish eye" view of a towering moss-covered tree with sun just behind it, with massive branches curving in an almost figure-8 pattern, vaguely resembling a nebula in my own fevered imagination

A grey rock face with two mosses; one with many separated, spiky tops, the second, bright yellow-green, very densely packed, mounded. There are three of these little mounds. At the upper right, there's a bit of greenish white Cladonia lichen.

A lumpy grey-brown tree covered in melon-sized lumps. It is happy with the shape it has, and needs no change.
A mossy tree covered in ferns wishes you well this Friday.
A lovely lumpy tree, a fine ferny friend. Always a treat to visit green things.

@luigidev.bsky.social el #monochromemonday también lo tenemos ahora que lo dices!
Luego también hay el #Caturday, el #silentsunday y el #mosstodon que son más cozzy
I guess that #mosstodon first started with an innocent pun, but it seems like it became a thing. I really like those photographs.
Macro photograph of a tiny ball of moss growing on the rough bark of some tree. The moss shares its place in the sun with some lichen, which is just out of focus in the front.
There's not much growing out here just yet, so I found a #Mosstodon subject to test the macro lens outside.

a vibrantly colorful close-up of someone's discarded sunglasses (still very new-looking, not worn) on a mossy corner of forest floor, the lenses spattered with raindrops partially and blurrily reflecting the surrounding forest

macro photo of a vibrant green carpet of moss with many fresh sporophytes standing tall above it; the sporophytes are lime green, each with a round, elongated sporangium that droops downward from the top of the stalk
another similar photo of the same moss; this one is slightly less close-up, and it's also a tiny bit less sharp due to my shaky paws
finally broke my winter hibernation and went for my first hike in quite a while this past weekend; here are some #Mosstodon pics to celebrate :neocat_happy:
#moss #plants #NaturePhotography #MacroPhotography
a single tiny white-capped mushroom (they always seem to be solitary) poking up through a bed of moss to reach for the sunlight, with a blurry tangle of tree branches in the background
some slick shiny orange jelly-like cups popping up from a fallen tree branch, with a bit of blurry moss as a backdrop
a cluster of "Turkey Tail" mushrooms springs around the knot in a branch, with rusty brown interiors and wiggly white borders, garnished with a single fallen sprig of redwood needles
a large brown conk mushroom, partially covered by fallen leaves (including one mostly decayed to its skeletal framework), its color SIGNIFICANTLY altered between the small dry portion (light chalky dust brown) and the wet portions (deep brown, nearly black, and with a reflective sheen)
finally had a (partially) not-rainy day out Saturday, so new bundle for #MushroomMonday ... getting out REALLY helps with mindfulness and mental health
