Last week, I wrote to OCDSB supervisor Bob Plamondon asking him the many questions parents have after he announced cuts to special program classes. This decision defies logic and parents deserve answers.

Someone should ask Ford where all the supports (in school and out of school) for students struggling with mental health, anxiety, learning disabilities, and special needs went.
The answer is, he cut them. We're seeing the effects in real time.

Attendance policies are ableist because they isolate children who may have a legitimate reason why they have missed school (appts, illness, etc)
They rarely bolster meaningful student engagement. Instead, they compromise student health & act as an unnecessary stressor

Just to be clear: we do not have money for textbooks in public elementary schools.
We make or buy our own books and resources, go to the library, and find videos and websites to use.
Some boards used to have consultants or resource teachers who made resources.
But they’ve been fired. #OntEd
We have students in #OntEd who regularly have meltdowns on Fridays because they don’t have enough food to eat at home over the weekend.
We have neighbours sleeping in tents in downtown Kitchener because they can’t afford rent.
But sure… I guess Doug Ford needs a private jet.
This is what #Ontario needs, to restore #positivemasculinity in our schools.
