An adult Cormorant swims on a river, heading away from the camera with its head turned to the right, showing its profile. It is a medium-sized seabird, largely greenish-black but with brown flight feathers edged in black, and it has a long black bill with a downturned tip. It has thin white plumes on its head and neck and a black crest at the back of its head, indicating breeding condition. Its eye is green with a blue rim, and its face is white, with a patch of bright orange below its eye, and another patch of mixed yellow and black feathers below that.

Sea birds on a rocky shoreline. The foreground is a large rock overlooking the water. There is a great cormorant at the center, surrounded by herring gulls. There is a Eurasian oystercatcher at the far left and another one flying away at the far right. The cormorant is all black except for a white patch on its through and some iridescence in the wings. It has a large, hooked bill. The European herring gulls have white bodies with grey wings. The wingtips are black. The legs are pink. The Eurasian oystercatchers have a white body with a black tip of the tail, black head, and long orange beak. They also have pink legs.

Een juveniele aalscholver in zijaanzicht, zittend op een puntig, grijsgroen paaltje of dakrand. Hij heeft een donkergrijs tot zwart lichaam met een opvallend lichtere (witgrijze) borst en hals, en een lange staart die naar achteren steekt. De snavel is lang en licht van kleur met een duidelijke haak aan het uiteinde; bij de basis zit een gele/oranje huidvlek rond de snavelhoek. De achtergrond is onscherp en mistig, met vage bruine en groene tinten, waardoor de vogel scherp naar voren komt.
Een aalscholver in broedkleed die rechtop op een paal zit. Hij heeft een lange, iets gehaakte snavel, een groenig oog en een opvallend wit gezicht met een klein zwart kuifje achterop. Op zijn flank zit een duidelijke witte vlek. De vleugels zijn donker met een schubachtig patroon. De paalkop is wit met wat groene aanslag en twee zichtbare bouten; de achtergrond is vaag en grijsbruin, alsof het mistig is.
Zo, vandaag weer eens wat vogels kunnen schieten om m’n archief mee aan te vullen. Ik zal ze jullie gedoseerd doen toekomen.

An adult Cormorant in breeding plumage stands on a pontoon at Farmoor Reservoir in Oxfordshire. It's a large water bird, about the size of a goose, with a long neck and a long, powerful bill. It's mainly black, though its wing feathers are bronze-coloured and edged in black. There are white patches on its thighs, and white feathers among the black on its crown and neck. Its face is white, with a dark mottled green and yellow patch on its lower jaw. Above that a dark orange patch leads up to its green eye, which is surrounded by a narrow blue rim.
